Assistant to the Photographer
The use of an
Assistant Photographer can greatly add to your total photographic package. The addition of an assistant photographer accomplishes the following:
-
Secondary flash for backlighting special shots
Imagine your first dance, you want to see your guests in a circle around the dance floor. Often times the lights are dimmed low and one flash on-top of the photographers camera isn't enough to light the people in the background. A second photographer would hold a second flash pointed on the background. Same holds true for twilight exterior pictures. This second flash can also be used to add
depth to any picture by offering a side source of light be create a better 3D effect on the subject.
It should be noted, this second flash will be on a stand and you will get
the same quality image if you choose not to go with an assistant.
-
More pictures
The assistant photographer will be taking candid
pictures from unique and photojournalistic angles. You will end up with more pictures, each one a special moment captured for your memories. Weddings are busy places with many interactions. An
assistant photographer can capture even more of those special moments.
-
Free up the primary photographer from baggage during rushed times
The limo pulls up to the reception site, the bride and groom step out and head inside. Where's the photographer? Oh, he's across the street parking his car. With an
assistant photographer, he'll park the car and the primary photographer will be right by your side ensuring he doesn't miss a shot.

Without Secondary Flash
A soft and natural effect using natural light
and perhaps an on-camera flash. This type of image is standard and
typical of most photographers. It's very nice and I use this style as
well for out-door natural light settings. In-door and in dark setting,
a single flash is not enough. Notice the ballroom below. |
With Secondary Flash
This style is not typical of most wedding photographers as it
entails more equipment and is generally more difficult to master. This
style is a specialty of Berryphotos.
Notice how the couple looks more 3-demensional and are
generally better lit. The sky is more defined because the camera can
be set to a higher F-Stop.
A secondary flash really makes your pictures
"Pop". The ballroom below is well lit and defined. |
