Indian Pond Country Club is one of those venues that just makes wedding days easy. Everything is right there, the grounds are beautifully maintained, and there are plenty of great spots for photos without having to leave the property. From the ceremony space to the golf course and the pond, there's always a beautiful backdrop just a short walk away.
One of my favorite things about Indian Pond is how relaxed the whole day feels. The staff is fantastic, everything runs smoothly, and there's never a feeling of being rushed. That gives us the time to capture the real moments—the laughs, the happy tears, and all the little in-between moments that end up meaning the most. If you're looking for a venue that's elegant, welcoming, and consistently delivers a great experience for both you and your guests, Indian Pond is a great choice.
Ceremony
Indian Pond's ceremony spot is just steps from the building facing the golf course. It's convenient and beautiful. It's literally a patch of grass, so women in heals be warned. There are no pavers, no structures, no pergola. A lot of couples get their florist to put two pillars with flowers on top to mark the ceremony spot.
If indoors I've seen it done in the atrium entrance of the building (stunning chandeliers) or in the reception rooms with floor to ceiling windows and grand fireplaces. You really can't go wrong with this venue. It offers so much.
Indian Pond
What if it rains?
Zero rain worries at Indian Pond. If you move the ceremony inside, you're in front of a wall of windows looking at rolling green hills or using the huge fireplace as a backdrop. You're good either way.
For pictures, the entrance is fully covered so we can get outside with all the goregeous shrubs and flowers to get amazing pictures without a single drop of rain hitting you. Rain is never a concern at Indian Pond - you'll get amazing pictures no matter what. . . if you hire me. . . ;)
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What makes Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston a great place to get married?
If you're on the south shore, this property stands out. It's floor to roof windows are amazing. They look out over the perfect golf course. The rooms have character and the entry way with it's HUGE chandelliers just gives that Wow to every guest.
2. Where are the best places for wedding photos at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston?
Simple - that building-long back deck is perfection.
3. What's the best time of day for portraits at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston?
Family and wedding party pictures would typically occur either immedaitely following "First Look" or direclty after the ceremony during cocktail hour unless you built in a gap between a church ceremony and arriving on property.
Regardless, at some point just before or near sunset I'll take just the two of you outside again for those soft-light intimate shots. It should only take like 10 minutes but these are the shots you hire me for. These are the jaw-dropping, tier enducing, OMG shots.
4. Is a first look a good idea at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston?
Absolutely! The first look gives you a chance to truly see each other. Express your thoughts. BE together for a moment - away from everyone else. Now you get to enjoy your own cocktail hour. Now it's not such a whirlwind. You're not as rushed, so less anxiety. Totally worth considering.
For the traditional "I want to see her coming down the aisle", let me give some perspective. First, when she gets there you need to just shut up and get married. You can't stop and talk. At a first look you can. Second, that heart-fluttering HOLY CRAP feeling when all your guests stand and you realize this is real, this is happening! That feeling doesn't go away just because you already saw each other. It actually may be enhanced.
5. What happens if it rains on your wedding day at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston?
In all my years, I've only had maybe a handful of weddings that were 100% completely washed out. It's so rare it's not worth discussing. Yeah, maybe the ceremony gets moved indoors. Maybe the family and wedding party pics are on the dance floor but there will almost certainly be an opportunity between drops to run outside for a few pics of the two of you.
That said, the front entrance is completely covered by the architecture of the building. We can stand out there, put the greenery behind you and you'd never know you're covered, but you don't get a drop on you. It's a HUGE plus and is something few venues can offer.
6. How much time should we set aside for wedding photos?
I typically like an hour, but I'm SUPER efficient. It really comes down to how large your group is. How many in the wedding party? How big is your family? Are there divorces with step family? Are there grandparents? Do you want to include aunts, uncles, cousins? The smaller the group the easier it is obviously.
7. Can we stay on schedule without feeling rushed?
This is my super power. You could be WAY behind schedule, then it comes time for the family and wedding party pics and poof, you're back on schedule. I can be amazingly efficient to power through all those combinations so you can lower the anxiety and not lose any of your wedding.
8. What's your favorite photo location at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston?
It's not the bridge. As much as they push it, it's actually the front entrance. There are SO many great spots out front for pictures and everytime I'm there they look at me like I'm nuts when I say I want to go out front.
9. Have you photographed weddings at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston before?
I wouldn't be talking about it otherwise - absolutely. There's a benefit to knowing the flow of things. Where you're allowed to go and where's off-limits. Knowing where the shadows will fall and knowing what will be in bloom. Even just knowing how the staff approaches the day and their personalities. It all helps make the entire day run smoothly for you. There's an unspoken "nod and wink" between me and the day-of coordinator keeping everything perfect so you get the most out of the day.
10. What should couples know before getting married at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston?
I'm honestly drawing a blank. I've got no warning. I've never seen anything to cause concern. It's a great reliable venue with strong staff.
11. How many guests does Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston work best for?
They can accommodate almost anything. You could probably hit 300+ guests in the main room but they've got the Blackstone room for smaller events. It'll handle anything.
12. Is Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston good for indoor and outdoor weddings?
Yup, that's it's super power. We can go out front and get every picture you could ever imagine - all during a hurricane. You're always going to get great pictures despite the weather at Indian Pond
13. Where do you usually take family photos?
Most are done on the back deck overlooking the golf course.
14. Is sunset really worth stepping away from the reception?
Absolutely. When we go out back the sun sets to our right and it's a great perspective to get the sun exploding in color with the building to the right. The architecture is gorgeous so it's a plus to get the building in the shot. Also, we'll get a ton of casual and intimate soft-light pictures around that time too.
15. What makes photographing weddings at [Venue Name] unique?
This lets your personality come through.
