Loon Pond Lodge is one of those hidden gems that feels warm, welcoming, and surrounded by nature. Tucked away in Lakeville, it has a peaceful setting with the pond, tall trees, and beautiful outdoor spaces that make it easy to create relaxed, natural wedding photos. It's the kind of place where you can slow down a little and really enjoy the day with the people you love.

What I like most about weddings at Loon Pond is how comfortable everything feels. There's no pressure to be anything other than yourselves, and that always comes through in the photos. Whether we're taking portraits by the water, wandering the grounds during golden hour, or capturing everyone on the dance floor later that night, the whole day has an easygoing feel that's hard not to love. If you're looking for a venue that's beautiful without being over-the-top, Loon Pond Lodge is definitely worth a look.

Ceremony

The vibes here are chill, easy, fun, relaxed. Ceremony is just steps outside the room and have the casual no-fuss feel overlooking the pond. Nothing tricky or hard, just great!

Loon Pond

What if it rains?

Loon Pond is pretty straightforward- if it rains, you're inside.  For the ceremony they'd push tables back to make a spot.  For family and wedding party pics I'll find a good spot but for the two of you, we'll find a time when the rain lets up to hop outside.  Maybe it's during dinner, maybe it's during the dance floor, but it's worth it to bounch outside real quick and get them.  They've got that gazebo thing in the back so we can get out of the rain and get a ton of awesome shots with all the same views.  I'd give this venue a B+ for rain options.  We're not going to lose out too much and you'll still get a ton of cool shots of the two of you.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What makes Loon Pond in Lakeville a great place to get married?

It's chill.  If you want something nice but don't want to drop 100k on one day, this will fit perfectly.  It's all the cool rustic New England relaxed vibes without all the foo foo stuff.

2. Where are the best places for wedding photos at Loon Pond in Lakeville?

Out back overlooking the water is perfect.

3. What's the best time of day for portraits at Loon Pond in Lakeville?

Family and wedding party pictures would typically occur either immedaitely following "First Look" or direclty after the ceremony during cocktail hour unless you built in a gap between a church ceremony and arriving on property.

Regardless, at some point just before or near sunset I'll take just the two of you outside again for those soft-light intimate shots.  It should only take like 10 minutes but these are the shots you hire me for.  These are the jaw-dropping, tier enducing, OMG shots.

4. Is a first look a good idea at Loon Pond in Lakeville?

Absolutely!  The first look gives you a chance to truly see each other.  Express your thoughts.  BE together for a moment - away from everyone else.  Now you get to enjoy your own cocktail hour.  Now it's not such a whirlwind.  You're not as rushed, so less anxiety.  Totally worth considering.

For the traditional "I want to see her coming down the aisle", let me give some perspective.  First, when she gets there you need to just shut up and get married.  You can't stop and talk.  At a first look you can.  Second, that heart-fluttering HOLY CRAP feeling when all your guests stand and you realize this is real, this is happening!  That feeling doesn't go away just because you already saw each other.  It actually may be enhanced.

5. What happens if it rains on your wedding day at Loon Pond in Lakeville?

In all my years, I've only had maybe a handful of weddings that were 100% completely washed out.  It's so rare it's not worth discussing.  Yeah, maybe the ceremony gets moved indoors.  Maybe the family and wedding party pics are on the dance floor but there will almost certainly be an opportunity between drops to run outside for a few pics of the two of you.

6. How much time should we set aside for wedding photos?

I typically like an hour, but I'm SUPER efficient.  It really comes down to how large your group is.  How many in the wedding party?  How big is your family?  Are there divorces with step family?  Are there grandparents?  Do you want to include aunts, uncles, cousins?  The smaller the group the easier it is obviously.

7. Can we stay on schedule without feeling rushed?

This is my super power.  You could be WAY behind schedule, then it comes time for the family and wedding party pics and poof, you're back on schedule.  I can be amazingly efficient to power through all those combinations so you can lower the anxiety and not lose any of your wedding.

Plus, honestly, Loon couples don't seem to worry about timelines as much.  They tend to be down-to-earth and not super Type A.  Just relax, enjoy the day and it is what it is.  I'll be sure to get amazing pictures, so no worries.

8. What's your favorite photo location at Loon Pond in Lakeville?

By that gazbo thing out back, it's got a great vantage point of the water and always looks perfect.

9. Have you photographed weddings at Loon Pond in Lakeville before?

I wouldn't be talking about it otherwise - absolutely.  There's a benefit to knowing the flow of things.  Where you're allowed to go and where's off-limits.  Knowing where the shadows will fall and knowing what will be in bloom.  Even just knowing how the staff approaches the day and their personalities.  It all helps make the entire day run smoothly for you.  There's an unspoken "nod and wink" between me and the day-of coordinator keeping everything perfect so you get the most out of the day.

10. What should couples know before getting married at Loon Pond in Lakeville?

It's not a wedding factory.  You're not going to get the same attention to detail as a Saphire property or other such place.  It's rustic and relaxed.  If you look at the tiny minute details and obsess, maybe keep looking.  This is definitely for couples that love each other and don't want to go in debt when they're trying to start their lives.  I think its absolutely perfect personally.  All the fun, none of the fuss.

11. How many guests does Loon Pond in Lakeville work best for?

It's not huge.  I'd check and see how many fit comfortably.  You still want room for a dance floor.

12. Is Loon Pond in Lakeville good for indoor and outdoor weddings?

It can get tight inside.  If there's no ability to get outside you may get some cabin-fever.  The goal is people can hang out by the fire pit or play corn-hole later.

13. Where do you usually take family photos?

By the gazbo out back.  That's really the spot.  I can get creative for the two of you, but photo options are somewhat limited.  No worries - that's why I find the cool shots to fill it in a bit.

14. Is sunset really worth stepping away from the reception?

Yeah, it looks good at Loon.  We just pop outside real quick and grab that shot.  It's so worth it.

15. What makes photographing weddings at Loon Pond in Lakeville unique?

There's no pressure.  Not from me, not from you, not from the venue.  It's designed for chill couples.  It's made for easy-going vibes.
