A photography perspective on this venue
I promise you—you'll be surprised when you check out this venue. You'd never know such an amazingly beautiful and well-designed wedding venue was right there on Route 18 in East Bridgewater. You probably drove by it a thousand times and never knew it was there.
Miraval Gardens is stunning. It's new, it's immaculate, and the reception room features a sweeping glass wall overlooking the pristine gardens in the back. The landscaping is off the charts. There's a beautiful little pond with a fountain, bordered by a gazebo and a small connecting bridge that gives the property a charming, almost storybook feel.
The ceremony space sits up a slight rise toward the back of the property, reached by a gorgeous winding pathway that makes the approach feel special. The entire setting is incredibly well designed, and there are beautiful photo opportunities seemingly everywhere you look. It's really stunning.
Ceremony
Miraval Gardens’ outdoor ceremony location is a beautifully manicured, pristine setting that’s flat, easily accessible, and surrounded by tall trees that help block harsh sunlight for gorgeous lighting throughout the year. A permanent pergola gives the space a beautiful look right from the start, or you can add your own decorations to make it feel uniquely yours.
And if it rains? No worries. The ceremony can simply be moved into the reception room, where you’ll face the fireplace with a wall of windows just to your left. Either way, your guests are going to be blown away!
What if it rains?
The indoor ceremony setup is stunning, with the fireplace straight ahead and a wall of windows to your left. It also gives us a great spot for all of your family and wedding party photos without having to go anywhere else.
But those gardens? They’re really the whole point of this property. At some point before we lose the light, we’ll look for an opportunity to head outside. Grab an umbrella, embrace the rain, or simply wait for a break—we can still get a ton of amazing pictures. I’ve never had a wedding here get completely washed out. There’s always a break somewhere. Maybe it’s during dinner, maybe it’s when the dance floor opens, but we can always find a few minutes to get outside and make it happen.
Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter
Miraval Gardens is one of those venues where I’m not worried about what the forecast says or what time of year your wedding falls. Spring brings fresh greenery, summer gives us lush gardens and deep greens, and fall can be absolutely gorgeous with the changing foliage. Even in winter, the grounds are meticulously maintained and the property still gives us plenty to work with.
And then there’s the weather. Bright sun? The trees, covered areas and indoor spaces give us options. Rain? We can embrace it, grab an umbrella, or simply wait for one of those breaks that almost always seems to appear. I’ve photographed weddings here in less-than-perfect weather and have never had one completely washed out. There are so many indoor and outdoor options that we can keep making great pictures regardless of what Mother Nature throws at us.
The key is having a photographer who knows how to use the entire property—and knows how to light it when natural light isn't cooperating. At Miraval, we have gardens, water, trees, architecture, fireplaces, huge windows and beautiful indoor spaces, so we're never dependent on one particular spot or one particular kind of weather. That's a pretty great position to be in when you're trying to create an entire wedding gallery.
The Dance Floor!
The dance floor at Miraval Gardens is one of my favorite parts of the reception space. It’s large, built right into the room, and positioned so the party can really take over without making the rest of the reception feel cramped. The 16-foot ceilings and huge windows looking out toward the gardens give the whole room a great sense of space, too.
And from a photography standpoint, it’s fantastic. I can move around the dance floor and capture everything from the big, crazy moments in the middle of the action to the reactions happening around the edges. The fireplaces, windows, garden views, and high ceilings give me plenty of visual elements to work with, so the dance-floor photos don't all end up looking like the same shot over and over.
Most importantly, this is a room designed for people to actually party. There’s a dedicated dance floor, plenty of room around it, and the reception space keeps the action visually connected to the beautiful grounds outside. When the music starts and everyone hits the floor, Miraval gives you the space to let loose—and gives me plenty of room to capture it.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What makes Miraval Gardens in East Bridgewater a great place to get married?
You'd never know it's there. Let's be real, you drove by it a million times and never knew it was there, right? I mean, right off Rt 18 they have THOSE kind of gardens? It's a hidden gem. It's stunning.
2. Where are the best places for wedding photos at Miraval Gardens in East Bridgewater?
That ENTIRE back area is meticulously manicured by the original owner Frank - even though he sold it to Wedgewood. He cares that much. It's that important. It's just perfect, really.
3. What's the best time of day for portraits at Miraval Gardens in East Bridgewater?
Family and wedding party pictures would typically occur either immedaitely following "First Look" or direclty after the ceremony during cocktail hour unless you built in a gap between a church ceremony and arriving on property.
Regardless, at some point just before or near sunset I'll take just the two of you outside again for those soft-light intimate shots. It should only take like 10 minutes but these are the shots you hire me for. These are the jaw-dropping, tier enducing, OMG shots.
4. Is a first look a good idea at Miraval Gardens in East Bridgewater?
Absolutely! The first look gives you a chance to truly see each other. Express your thoughts. BE together for a moment - away from everyone else. Now you get to enjoy your own cocktail hour. Now it's not such a whirlwind. You're not as rushed, so less anxiety. Totally worth considering.
For the traditional "I want to see her coming down the aisle", let me give some perspective. First, when she gets there you need to just shut up and get married. You can't stop and talk. At a first look you can. Second, that heart-fluttering HOLY CRAP feeling when all your guests stand and you realize this is real, this is happening! That feeling doesn't go away just because you already saw each other. It actually may be enhanced.
5. What happens if it rains on your wedding day at Miraval Gardens in East Bridgewater?
In all my years, I've only had maybe a handful of weddings that were 100% completely washed out. It's so rare it's not worth discussing. Yeah, maybe the ceremony gets moved indoors. Maybe the family and wedding party pics are on the dance floor but there will almost certainly be an opportunity between drops to run outside for a few pics of the two of you.
Btw, that entire wall of windows looking out towards the gardens can make for a perfect backdrop if it's pouring rain ouside.
6. How much time should we set aside for wedding photos?
I typically like an hour, but I'm SUPER efficient. It really comes down to how large your group is. How many in the wedding party? How big is your family? Are there divorces with step family? Are there grandparents? Do you want to include aunts, uncles, cousins? The smaller the group the easier it is obviously.
7. Can we stay on schedule without feeling rushed?
This is my super power. You could be WAY behind schedule, then it comes time for the family and wedding party pics and poof, you're back on schedule. I can be amazingly efficient to power through all those combinations so you can lower the anxiety and not lose any of your wedding.
Plus, honestly, Loon couples don't seem to worry about timelines as much. They tend to be down-to-earth and not super Type A. Just relax, enjoy the day and it is what it is. I'll be sure to get amazing pictures, so no worries.
8. What's your favorite photo location at Miraval Gardens in East Bridgewater?
By that gazbo thing out back, it's got a great look with the little bridge connector and the fountain.
9. Have you photographed weddings at Miraval Gardens in East Bridgewater before?
I wouldn't be talking about it otherwise - absolutely. There's a benefit to knowing the flow of things. Where you're allowed to go and where's off-limits. Knowing where the shadows will fall and knowing what will be in bloom. Even just knowing how the staff approaches the day and their personalities. It all helps make the entire day run smoothly for you. There's an unspoken "nod and wink" between me and the day-of coordinator keeping everything perfect so you get the most out of the day.
10. What should couples know before getting married at Miraval Gardens in East Bridgewater?
There are ZERO red flags at this venue. If I were getting married, I'd probably choose this property. When my daughters get to that stage of life I'll probably recommend it. Search my site, this is the only venue I've said that about so far.
11. How many guests does Miraval Gardens in East Bridgewater work best for?
It can fit anything really. Totally scalable for big or small. No worries. Get to over 200 and maybe it's tight but those are rare.
12. Is Miraval Gardens in East Bridgewater good for indoor and outdoor weddings?
The indoor ceremony setup is beautiful. Obviously the gardens are a strength for the property and we'll try to use them if at all possible, but the inside is really really nice.
13. Where do you usually take family photos?
Just out back, off to the left of the patio with the fountain and gazebo as the backdrop. It's gorgeous and unique.
14. Is sunset really worth stepping away from the reception?
Only for the soft light and romantic shots I can get at that time of day. The sun sets behind the trees so you're not getting a sunset photo but I promise, the shots you love most are taken in that timeframe.
15. What makes photographing weddings at Miraval Gardens in East Bridgewater unique?
It's easy. Anywhere you turn is a great shot. I don't have to think. From the couples perspective it's convenient. HUGE bridal suite easily accessible all night, delicious food, it's just kinda perfect honestly.
